Ep. 68: The Unfiltered Truth About Physical Beauty with Nia Sanchez

Do attractive people have it better? Is life easier for them? Do they have advantages in life?

We don't shy away from these conversations on Pretty Rich Podcast, as I'm sure you know if you've listened to the show. 😉

Are you familiar with Miss USA 2014 and Miss Universe runner up Nia Sanchez? I'm sure you are. She's one of the most beautiful people I've ever met, inside and out. And I was so blessed to be able to not only give her some bomb brows but ALSO interview her for the podcast all about pretty privilege. Yeah, you heard me right. In this episode, we sit down with Nia Sanchez, Miss Universe 2014, to talk about pretty privilege.

There are NO filters in this conversation. We don't believe in those here. We're going all in.

Here are the episode highlights:

‣‣  [09:13]  Starting off with my favorite rapid-fire questions: I ask Nia where she grew up. We get a glimpse at what her childhood was like moving all around the country as her parents divorced and her mother experienced homelessness.

‣‣  [11:34]  Everyone has a different form of privilege in some way. Here I ask Nia how her "pretty privilege" has affected her view on the world.

‣‣  [14:37]  People think that if you're beautiful now you must have been this way all your life. You must know you're beautiful and you must have always been so confident. But that's not really the case. Nia opens up to us about her lack of confidence as a child and when she started to see herself in a different light.

‣‣  [17:31]  Do the most beautiful people experience the world differently than the rest of us?

‣‣  [23:05]  Without realizing it, you probably readily assume that pretty people are used to special treatment. Here I ask Nia if she typically expects a certain kind of treatment and we get all into LA and influencer culture.

‣‣  [25:14]  If you know me, you've heard me stress the importance of serving others. Nia touches on this too as we talk about getting so caught up in your own life and issues.

‣‣  [28:45]  While talking about misconceptions people might have about pretty people, Nia and I dig into Instagram and the concept of highlight reels. Do you find yourself constantly comparing yourself to people you see on Instagram? Do you know what you're really comparing yourself to?

‣‣  [33:02]  Women are constantly being underestimated. Maybe pretty privilege is actually a disadvantage here.

â€£â€£  [35:07]  You might assume that someone as beautiful as NIa has had a perfect life. If you've made it this far in the podcast, you know that's not true. Here Nia and I talk about the most painful experience she ever had with judgment.

â€£â€£  [38:07]  Let's get heated for a minute about the sheer entitlement people feel on social media to go around commenting hateful things on the posts of people they really know nothing about.
