Ep. 29: International Soprano And Microblading Mogul Julia Milin Shares Her Life Story And Helps Us Understand How A Background In The Performing Arts Is A Huge Advantage In Business

Lights! Camera! Action!

Are you ready for today's episode? If you were ever in the performing arts: dance, theater, choir, band, whatever, then this episode just might dig up some nostalgia for you. I know it did for me. Not only that, but it also inspired me. I had forgotten how my history in performing arts could be so vital to my business now.

Even if you've never stepped foot on any kind of stage, I think the episode will be super inspirational. We have, not only a brow mogul but an international soprano Julia Milin with us today. Yes. International soprano AND brow mogul. She does both! And she's incredible at both.

We dive into her history, how she got started in performing arts, how she got started in PMU, and how she weaves them together. I don't think I've ever felt so rejuvenated after an episode. Seriously.

Here are the episode highlights:

‣‣  [02:40]  We start with our rapid-fire introduction questions.

‣‣  [09:44]  I ask Julia what her number one top PMU tip would be if she could give any piece of advice to anyone.

‣‣  [14:37]  I want to get into Julia's background so that we can start to get a sense of how she weaves performing arts and permanent makeup together. So we start by finding out how she got into the performing arts.

‣‣  [17:10]  Next, I ask her how she got into permanent makeup.

‣‣  [21:48]  Julia never wanted to give up her singing to be a permanent makeup artist so she's worked hard to make sure that she could do both. But she has gotten some harsh comments for being both an opera singer and a permanent makeup artist.

‣‣  [23:40]  This is something we'll continue to comment on as the episode progresses, but I think a big part of Julia's ability to be such an effective artist and coach comes from her experience as a performing artist and telling stories. We first get into that here.

‣‣  [25:11]  I think that a part of the reason why Julia is so great at marketing is that she's used to being in the spotlight and having to pitch herself because that's what auditions are like. So I want to know if being in the spotlight is something she always enjoyed or if it's something she's learned to do.

‣‣  [31:32]  You can't manage every aspect of your business. Maybe you can at the beginning but once you start to grow you should absolutely hire an assistant and get someone on top of your books. I've coached enough beauty bosses okay, you need to hire someone.

‣‣  [42:57]  If you could go back to your younger self and tell her anything, what would you tell her?

‣‣  [46:15]  The permanent makeup community can do with some improvements, so I ask Julia what she thinks is missing from the community.

‣‣  [50:35]  And finally, my favorite question, what's your best advice for living a pretty rich life?
