Top Beauty Biz Advice From A 2 Time 7 Figure Business Owner

SHARING MY TOP TIPS AS A BUSINESS OWNER AND BEAUTY BUSINESS COACH!

I've been in the beauty industry for over ten years, and I've seen a lot.

I started as a permanent makeup artist, opened my own salon, hired a team of 14 artists, and started my online beauty business coaching program, Pretty Rich Bosses.

I've grown both of these businesses to 7-figures, and they only continue to grow. Not only that, but I help beauty entrepreneurs just like you take their beauty businesses to 7-figures with my online beauty business coaching program. I don't take any of this lightly!

I genuinely believe that 6-figures should be the MINIMUM for every single beauty entrepreneur. And I also believe that 7-figures is more in reach than you think it is.

Today, I want to share my top three tips for beauty entrepreneurs as both a successful beauty business owner and a beauty business coach!

If you want to grow your beauty business, get better at sales, and make your beauty business a 6-figure, or 7-figure success, you're in the right place!

Let's do this!

Four signs it's time to raise your prices from beauty business coach Sheila Bella: demand is too high, competitor prices are higher, increased prices test well, and cost of business is increasing

1. Be Salesy

I will always preach this! You should be salesy with your product and services.

I’ve met beauty bosses who have just started their businesses and beauty bosses who have been in the game for years—and yet they are still too afraid to talk about their business! They're always scared of coming off as salesy.

How can you expect your business to grow if you don't talk about it?

Many people are too scared of being salesy because they think it cheapens their business or turns customers off because they equate salesy with pushy.

Have you ever heard of the rule of seven? It's a marketing rule that states that your potential customers need to see your product at least seven times before they actually commit to it. That's right, seven times.

That might seem like a lot to you right now, especially if you're someone who is too afraid of talking about your business. But it's actually really easy to do.

Let me walk you through a scenario:

A client scrolls through Instagram and finds your profile. She thinks it looks perfect, and all of your content is fresh, up to date, and you post regularly. So she follows you!

The next day she sees you on her feed or her story promoting your business. She's not ready to buy anything yet, but she sees the proof that your product actually works!

Maybe you slide into your DMs, or go through her profile and like a couple of pictures, and say something light and casual like:

"Hey, babe! Thanks for the follow :) I love your highlights!"

That's already three touchpoints that she's had with your business, and you haven't even gotten to the actual selling part.

As she continues to follow you, you post more content that exposes her to more and more of your business. She sees your client testimonials, your products and services in action, client transformations, and behind the scenes. All the while, you're promoting your services with calls to action like:

DM me if you're interested in an appointment!
Check out the link in my bio to buy it!

Within less than a week, you could have already exposed her to your product seven times. But you're never going to get there if you're not talking about your product, right?

My best piece of salsey advice? Don't give up.

According to a study by Brevet, 80% of sales require an average of 5 follow-ups to close.

2. Invest Back Into Your Business

When we start to make money, our instinct is to hold onto it. Especially if we don't come from backgrounds where we had a lot of money, or when making money hasn’t always been easy or consistent.

Financial health and literacy are vital for beauty entrepreneurs. But if you want your business to grow, you have to invest back in it, and the best time to do that is at the start of your business.

Some people will say invest 15-20% in your first two years, and others will say 50%.

Another way to think about it is to think about your dream revenue and invest 5-10% of that.

I will always say that you have to invest money to make money, and anyone who's ever invested real money into their business will tell you the same!

Now, I'm not saying to just throw your money at anyone who tells you that they can double or triple your income.

Investing in your business can mean hiring a business coach, specifically a beauty business coach. I always recommend finding someone who is actually in your industry, who has achieved the things with their business that you want to achieve with yours because those will be the only people that will truly and accurately be able to help you.

It can also mean investing in online courses, certification, better equipment, better advertising.

When you start making money, be smart about it and invest it in the right places to help your beauty business grow.

3. Don't Be Afraid To Ask For Help

Do you know what I'm really tired of? I’m tired of the world telling women that we can't ask for help because it makes us look weak.

A lot of women get into entrepreneurship and feel like they have to prove something—either to their friends, their family, or their unsupportive partners, who feel like their businesses are nothing but hobbies or side-hustles.

But you have nothing to prove! I believe the trait the most successful people, the bravest people, have is their ability to ask for help when they need it.

No matter what you think, you're not alone in your entrepreneurial journey. There are thousands and millions of women just like you who are taking the steps, making the same mistakes, and facing the same challenges. And guess what else? There are women out there who have done exactly what you want to do.

Why not ask them for help?
