Ep. 24: Fuzion Artistry CEO Leann La On What Real Support Looks Like Among PMU Artists, Brow Artists, and Microbladers

A lot of people are scared to share their secrets and success with others when they first get into the PMU industry or when they first start to experience the success they dreamed of. It can be hard to break that scarcity mindset that makes you see everyone around you as a direct threat to your business.

I had the same thoughts when I first got into the PMU industry. I know that may seem hard to believe since I am so open and so willing to share now. I want everyone around me to succeed too. I want you to succeed too. And I believe we all can succeed.

For this episode, I brought in my good friend, another true believer in community over competition, Leann La, CEO of Fuzion Artistry, a salon she runs with her family. She's the perfect person to talk about what true support among PMU artists looks like so I'm so excited for you to listen to this episode!

Here are the episode highlights:

Guys, we have to be real. We have to be honest. I have to be honest. Your Instagrams are embarrassing me. They're hurting me.

I'm sorry. I'm sorry, but I have to say it. I'm always honest with you and I'm always here to help. So I'm not just going to say you're doing it all wrong and leave. I'm here to help.

What's wrong with your Instagrams? It's your marketing strategy. It's hurting you, it's hurting me, it's hurting us all. Selling online is an art okay? It takes a good strategy. And what some of you are doing...it's not good. You just need a little help and a little more tact and you'll be booked and sold out in no time, trust me.

Ep. 22: Dollistic CEO Emily Joy Shares What It's Really Like To Be A Leader Of A Permanent Makeup Squad. Being One Of The Very First Microbladers In Washington DC, Emily Shares The Ups And Downs Of Managing Multiple Brow Artists

Managing a team of PMU artists is one of the most rewarding parts of having your own studio, it really is. There's nothing like that sense of family and community like these are the sisters you never had. But it also comes with some hardships.

Like everything, it has its ups and downs. For this episode, I have my friend Emily Joy, CEO of her own studio, Dollistic, in Washington DC. Honestly, Emily and I are like soul sisters we're so similar.

Emily used to have 25 PMU artists in her studio. Can you imagine? I mean, I have 15, but 25 is a lot to manage. Now she's trimmed it down to just 4, including her. As you can expect, that kind of process, trimming a group of 25 down to 4, comes with some lessons. It comes with a lot of wisdom. Emily has had some practice knowing who she works well with, who she can't work with, and how to handle change.

She's actually the perfect person to spill all the beans about the ups and downs of managing a team of multiple PMU...

Ep. 20: The ONE THING PMU Success Is Made Of

I'm ready to tell my story.

I want to share the story of how I became successful in PMU, how I got started, and how I got to where I am now. I know it's easy to look at me now and see how successful I am and feel like I just got here overnight. But I didn't! It took so much hard work and effort on my part because when I got into PMU it was not a cool thing. It was not hip. It was not on-trend. But I saw it for what it was and I thought "okay, I can inject some cool into this. I can make this sexy" and, girl, I ran with it.

In this episode, I want to share my journey to PMU success because I think it's important for all of us to acknowledge where we came from. If you see PMU celebrities and you think "why am I not there? Why am I not that successful yet? It needs to happen faster." I've got you. I've got you! We're gonna be honest in this episode and I'm going to share THE ONE THING that really led to my PMU success with you. The One Thing that PMU...

Ep. 21: How To Overcome Social Anxiety When You Have To Show Up To Grow Your PMU Business

You HAVE to get over your social anxiety, get out there, and start networking in person.

You have to. You really just have to. I know it's hard, believe me. It's not easy to show up all the time. But you have to do it if you want to grow. If you want to grow your beauty business, if you want to build a PMU empire, you can't sit at home all day letting your fear control you. It's time to get up and get out there, beauty babe.

Here are the episode highlights:

‣‣  [05:08]  Let's get right into it. Why is it important for you to get out there and meet people in person?

‣‣  [07:11]  I know, just the thought of going out and meeting a bunch of new people is making you anxious. I know that because it happens to me too. Yeah.

‣‣  [07:53]  So let's really dig into that anxiety for a second. Let's get to the root of it. What does your fear of meeting people and making connections really mean. What are you really afraid of?

Ep. 19: The People Who Hurt You Are Not Coming Back To Heal You. You Have To Do That Yourself.

The people who hurt you are not coming back to heal you. You have to do that yourself.

I have to repeat myself because I want to make sure you're really hearing that. Maybe repeat it to yourself a few times. It's hard to know that the responsibility to heal is all on you. It's hard to be like "but they hurt me. They're the ones that did it. Isn't it their job to fix it?"

Healing is hard and that's why I really want to talk about it in this episode. The new year can make it feel like you can just shove everything that happened in the past in a little box and put it in the back of your closet, cover it up with new clothes and shoes and just completely forget about it. But if you do that you haven't healed from it yet. And you're just going to end up uncovering that box and having to deal with it at a later date. And it won't be pretty.

Here are the episode highlights:

‣‣  [03:24]  I want to start off talking about how great the new year always...

YOU NEED TO INVEST IN YOURSELF IF YOU WANT YOUR BUSINESS TO GROW.

Sorry, did you hear me?

I said YOU NEED TO INVEST IN YOURSELF IF YOU WANT YOUR BUSINESS TO GROW. No ifs, no buts, no I can do it myself, no I don't have enough money. If you're trying to make bank and grow a successful business you have to invest in yourself. It's really the key to your growth.

I know that investing can sound scary, especially if you're just starting your business and you don't really have a lot of income. But trust me, once you start to invest, you'll see that money come back to you.

Ep. 16: How To Be Friends With Successful People

If you want to BE successful you have to SURROUND yourself with OTHER successful people.

We've all heard that saying before, right? You're are the sum of the five people you're closest to, the five people you surround yourself with. So if you're not surrounding yourself with other successful people, how are you going to be successful?

I know making new friends can seem hard especially as an adult. But in this episode, I'm going to teach you how to be friends with successful people. This isn't just making cheap connections with successful people and hoping they'll lead you to success - no. This is making real, lasting, meaningful relationships with successful people so that their energy can in turn motivate you to reach your full potential, and you can motivate them as well.

Here are the episode highlights:

‣‣  [05:08]  Okay let's talk about that girl that you REALLY want to be friends with. That girl that you're like ugh if we had a PMU...

Ep. 15: Setting Up Your Home For Success. How You Can Control Your Environment To Develop Good Habits.

Your environment impacts your habits which impacts your path to success.

Yes, it's true. Your environment could be destroying your chances for success. Or at least, it could be holding you back, making it more difficult for you to form good habits and reach your goals.

Now it's not like you have to completely renovate your home or move to improve your environment and better achieve success - I'm not at all advocating for that. But there are little things in your home that you can control in order to develop good habits and in turn achieve that success you're dreaming of.

For this episode, I brought in my good friend and honorary podcast host Anthea to share all of our best tips for setting up your home for success and developing good habits.
